PRESS RELEASE ON 2018 IRISH ABORTIONS IN ENGLAND & WALES
The abortions on residents of the Republic in England and Wales have continued to decline for the 17th year since 2001 .There were 2,879 abortions in 2018 compared with 3,092 in 2017, The 2018 figure is about 4.6% of births and a rate of 2 abortions per 1,000 women aged 15-44.
Abortions on residents of England and Wales have peaked to 200,608 a rate of 18 per 1,000 residents aged 15-44,
22% of the Irish residents having abortions were not ethnically Irish compared with 19.9% in 2017. There were 64 abortions on Irish residents on grounds of foetal abnormalities including 16 with Downs Syndrome.
According to the HSE, 38 abortions on residents of the Republic were performed in Holland, The HSE also stated that 15 abortions were carried out in Ireland under the 2013 Act, Since that Act totally confused the difference between direct deliberate abortions and morally justifiable ethical interventions practiced by obstetricians for decades , all we can say with certainty is that of the 15 abortions reported only two performed on grounds of threatened suicide were really deliberate abortions
Northern Ireland residents had 1053 abortions in England and Wales in 2018 compared to 919 in 2017. The latest figure amounts to about 4.6% of births very comparable with the Republic.
Yours faithfully

The HSE seems to have received a copy of the British Report before the rest of us and makes great play on abortion pills. These were still illegal throughout 2018 and the HSE is rather naïve to believe figures from people sending illegal imports into Ireland, and some of whom, like Women on the Web have an aggressive campaigning background.
